Beastie Boys @ Sonar

life — craig on June 20, 2007 at 11:18 pm

Never having the chance to see them live before - figured I better do it soon - these guys aren’t spring chickens anymore! That said - they put on a high energy show and played through a lot of material. I personally am digging their brand-new instrumental stuff they debuted at the show. But man to see Mike D on the kit - I just couldn’t not see Screech hammering away on the drums :)

Cornelius @ SONAR

life — craig on June 20, 2007 at 11:13 pm

Cornelius rocked. Period. This is the only clip I can really put up as the other tracks they did were just too loud for my poor little camera. The visuals they crearte for their tracks are simply wonderful vignettes - and the live performances synched to them - certainly a sight to see.

Environmental artist HA Schult recently brought his TrashPeople exhibit to Barcelona in Plaça Reial. TrashPeople is an army of trash soldiers that have traveled the earth since 1996 visiting such locations as The Great Wall Of China, The Giza Pyramids, The Red Square in Moscow and many other significant locations including Matterhorn. The TrashPeople represent humanity as it is today, a collection of mass consumption that is slowly contaminating the earth.

Tainan Night Market

life — craig on June 2, 2007 at 6:51 pm

The sights, sounds and tastes of a Tainanese Night Market. I had the pleasure of experiencing this while here in Tainan, Taiwan while speaking at the Sound and Motion Conference and thought I’d share a bit of this experience.

Hong Kong Skies

life — craig on May 29, 2007 at 10:57 am

I’m here at Hong Kong International Airport waiting for a connecting flight to Taiwan. It’s been a crazy day flying from Barcelona to London, 9 hour layover, 12 hour flight and now another 3 hour layover before I arrive in Taiwan where a car will be waiting to take me the 1 1/2 hours to Tainan - the oldest city in Taiwan. I am spending the rest of the week here to speak to a number of Universities on Interactive Creativity and explore the old city and the beautiful coastline.

How best to retro-fit a blog?

life — craig on May 28, 2007 at 11:35 am

Well - I have decided to try and retro-fit this blog with happenings years old. Digging up old news and placing it in one place. I suppose trying to put together a ‘definitive’ sort of online space that can house thoughts, work, prototypes, concepts, travels, speaking engagements etc. Now here is the thing - how best to do this? If I add posts for years ago they become buried and what few people look here, and hopefully more who do, they won’t be able to find this content without searching for it in the Archives.

If anyone has any insight on this - be much appreciated. It’s a lot of work to dig through and want to try to do it in the best way that supports both myself and those weary travellers that drop by.

Dusting it OFFF

life — craig on May 19, 2007 at 7:18 pm

Not even sure who if anyone actually comes here, but either way it started a year ago as a result of the creative energy explosion that was OFFF 2006. After another inspiring week in the sun with some pretty cool people doing some pretty cool things I am again delving into getting stuff not only online, but actually linkable —- as in, like, to share with others. : )

Working on the layout, format and how I’m going to get thoughts and ideas up here - so anyways yeah - more for myself - here we go!

Graffiti Research Labs - Barcelona

life — craig on May 16, 2007 at 2:20 pm

It was a blast hanging out with the GRL boys (Theo, Evan, Bennett & James) during OFFF and late night BBQ’ing and terrace jumping, but I never got a real chance to hit the streets with them. Tonight was that night. After wrapping up their last night of Workshops I got the chance to catch up and give the Mobile Broadcasting Unit a whirl. Hit up an apartment building and started tagging and tossing up some people’s work. Good stuff.

You have to have respect for anyone that handles generators, gasoline (in a bag!) and cigarettes. At the same time. : )

Friends LLoyd and Roger are starting up Thursdays at the very last little chiringuito on the beach spinning some delightful playa musica. The smell of salt, the sounds of soul, the touch of the breeze, taste of a cold caña and the sea opening her arms up to you. spot on.

SONAR.06 - TENORION

life — craig on June 17, 2006 at 11:18 am

A real treat to see this performed live. After a year of online teases and the odd image shot, I finally had the opportunity to see it performed live in all it’s glory. Including additional light/sound mannipulations and Elektroplankton - it was an interesting technological mashup. Gotta love the shoulder cam to catch all the action.
